"african territory" is about surfing, traveling along the coast of africa, and getting to know new cultures.
for two years, the brothers julian and joaquin azulay travelled in an 85 unimog van from gibraltar to cape town, looking for and finding the best waves, beautiful landscapes and fascinating people. they captured these almost unknown places in pictures.
however also the darker sides of these regions are illuminated in the film. the country is characterized by social injustice, political instability, and exploitation of resources. the two brothers tried to find and describe the connection between the roots of humanity, religion, war, the people of africa and surfing.
the premiere tour of the film through europe - at the surf film night of nouvague - is currently running and the film can still be seen in some cities in germany and austria. so check it out if you are in the mood for great pictures, an interesting story and other cultures.
