the film by stacy peralta - the award-winning director of free solo - is about gerry lopez "mr. pipeline", the world-renowned surfer and surfboard shaper from hawaii who has been on the board all his life. the film tells the story of the connection between his peaceful and meditative mood on land and the aggressive surfing style of his early years.

at the age of 20, gerry discovered yoga and meditation for himself. he began to take what he learned to the board and use it while riding waves. for him, the ocean is the yin, the mountains are the yang - in between is stillness. health and harmony occur when yin and yang are in balance.
